Spot the matching pairI made the mistake of playing the third installment of this series first Awakening The Goblin Kingdom which tainted my feelings about the series. But now that I have played the first 2 installments and finally this 4th installment, I find the series exceptional. In this episode, Sophia finally returns to her parents home and must free some of the subjects that helped her parents hide and save you from their fate. This was by far the longest episode packed with many puzzles and things to do. I found it of very little help. The music, voiceovers and graphics are excellent and lend a lot to the game. I did find some difficulty in figuring out what do to next as the goals list just gives a basic do this next guide. I found that you had to pixel search each screen or you would miss the tiny spots that contained clues or items needed to move ahead. It seemed that you have puzzles within puzzles to finish before you could move to the next area. There were some HOS throughout the game but mostly puzzles and things to do that required you to fix something. It feels like the art gets better with every title in this series. The adventure continues to magical locations like castles and islands in the sky. You get to meet and help several characters, which is satisfying. The witch suggested she ask the King in the Goblin Kingdom and she has finally found her people in The Skyward Castle but is still searching for her parents, the King and Queen. This quest isnt easy because the evil Dreadmyre is hunting her, and she was born without magic The first thing I noticed about this game, the 4th in the Awakening series, was that the puzzles have become more elaborate and much harder to solve, there are also fewer of them. There are simple puzzles such as finding the two stitches that are connected by following the stitch through a woven pattern, a game of blocks, pic cross and of course rotating puzzle pieces to complete a picture. There are more time consuming puzzles such as fixing a generator. You have to follow the tool guide picture book, page by page, using the inventory pieces and interacting with different components of the generator. The hidden object games are mostly finding 1. Ran has joined us in this game for the second game in a row as well as that cute little fire breathing pocket dragon. Part of that is because it was a very long game, and you got plenty of game play for the purchase price. I purchased the standard version, so that is saying a lot. This game leans much more heavily to the adventure and puzzle side than to the HO side. That is one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much, but those who particularly like HO games should be warned. The game is fairly complicated and some puzzles are challenging. I played in the intermediate mode, and had to consult a walkthrough 2 3 times during the game. Most of the time, it turned out that I had missed picking up a game piece at some location, so keep your eyes peeled while playing. For the most part, the map that comes with the game as well as the occasional use of the hint command is enough to keep you moving forward. These are older games and better games because gamers must have some patience because there is no zipping and zooming to completion. Even though at times I could have pulled my hair out in frustration, I loved the whole series of the games, and just when I thought the game had finished, it carried on, numerous puzzles to do, and some I admit I skipped, simply because i couldnt do that puzzle, but dont let that put you off trying. Love the graphics and the puzzles are really fun Some can be very challenging but you have the hint and skip system to help you out of any jam. I sure wish developers would make more games like this. I loved the story line, of Urban Legends, the campfire in the middle of the dark woods, a bunch a teens, a warm fire, hot cocoa, and ghost stories or rather Urban Legends. FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO LISAThis is the final game to the series which carries on from Campfires The Baby Sitter in which you play Lisas younger sister. No one knew what happened to Lisa, but youre about to find out. I was gobsmacked when I found out who it was that kidnapped Lisa and the rest of the girls and who was in league with The Hookman. There are voiceovers in the game and you get a diary later on to help Reggie and Ashley find out what happened to Lisa and to get clues on what to do. Its easy to read and you are finding pages as you go through the game. The graphics at the beginning are kind of gritty and dark, but you get used to it. Not all of the game is like that though. Sound is good and the music is creepy. There are no hidden object games here, but there are plenty of mini games which are very challenging and will take a while to do. You do have the option to skip any of them though if they are just too challenging or you want to move on. I didnt skip any but some did take me ages to do. You collect little bugs along the way to help you if you get stuck. These are scattered around and you can collect up to 5 at a time. I must admit I did use them a couple of times when I just couldnt find something. Some of the items to find are very small or well hidden, so these do come in handy. When you have finished the game you can play Project Stillwater which is to find 1. BY TORCHLIGHT. You have 5 minutes to do each scene. There are also bug hints in there as well to help you if time is getting short. When you have successfully finished one, then you can carry on with the next one and so on. I thought I was good at spotting the differences, but I only managed to find 3 in the first game in 5 minutes Yikes they are hard to do. I think Im going to be a while on those ones. All up the main game took me about 6 hours to do. Its a very challenging game with difficult puzzles, but I really enjoyed it. So if you love a good challenge, then this game is for you too. Since Ive only played the demoes of each game, I dont know how well the story is fleshed out in each one, but the beginning of this one started out very cleverly using a major plot point from the second games demo concerning hot chocolate. Theres a strategy guide included and I discovered that Id gotten through the first third of the guide at the end of the hour demo, so this appears to be a short game. I hadnt noticed if theres a guide included in the first two installments but walkthroughs are easily found elsewhere on the internet. The demo didnt pull me in quite as much as the last game in this series so Ill pass on this one. Items were harder to find because all the scenes were in the dark, but the skip on the one puzzle in the demo didnt require accumulating multiple hints like the former games did. A diary appeared right before the demo ended which provides the back story. This may very well be a good game for those who like the different kind of gameplay it offers, so I cant decide whether to recommend it or not, but do try it out for yourself. Date published 2. There is only one game mode, the graphics are horrendous and whatever your searching for is extremely hard to find. You dont seem to ever really have an inventory, and you have to earn hints by finding fireflies, which are extremely hard to see.
